Saturday Pottering

I love pottering, especially on sunny days and preferably at weekends. Today has been gloriously sunny and warm, this morning I had to paint my toenails and put my Birkenstocks on- in March! Is this a record?

So today I repotted the courgettes, inspected the tomatoes, sowed some green beans and put some sweet pea seeds in to soak ready for sowing tomorrow.

I also did three loads of washing- which I was able to dry on the line-yippee, no more festooned radiators or tumble dryer hum.

Also photographed some vintage scarves to sell in my Etsy shop..

Very County Set

and rephotographed the exquisite christening gown that I put in the shop yesterday.

I even tidied up my corner of the sitting room. It is quite some time since I was able to shut the lid of my sewing box.

and now I am relaxing and planning knitting projects  with this....
(Although I don't understand why it cannot be called Vogue Knitting in the UK)

Happy spring and don't forget to put the clocks forward by one hour tonight if you are in the UK.

Magnolia

Magnolia always makes me think of the dullest decorating schemes ever. Every house that we have lived in has had at least one wall painted in that colour.
However it does no justice to the actual plant. The previous houseowners planted ours and never saw it bloom but bloom it does and it is a spectacular sight

It is on the cusp of blooming and I am praying that it won't be ruined by a frost

Spring is arriving in my garden and the weather is so warm and sunny for the time of year

On my kitchen windowsill I have tiny courgettes (zucchini), tomatoes, chili peppers and butternut squash growing, soon to be followed by runner beans and sweet peas.
I love the surge of energy that comes with this season

Spring Treats

I have never been much of a "girly" girl, always more interested in reading, creating, horses etc to take much notice of skincare and make up.
I have been blessed with good skin and have only really taken a real interest in skincare over the past two or three years. As I am getting older this has changed, possibly due to panic!

I am a member of a US forum and during a discussion on favourite beauty products someone posted about receiving their Birchbox, What was this? A small subscription and you get a boxful of samples of high end products- but Birchbox don't exist in the UK.  However I did some research and found that there are several companies in Europe that provide the same service.

I read lots of blogs and decided to have a go and chose Glossybox  I had my first box in February and loved the contents so I ordered another one for March (I read that it had a Harrods theme) and this came today in the mail

I opened it (of course)

Look at the ribbon! I must think of a way to use that.

I unwrapped it and found all this.

A tiny bottle of Versace Vanitas

A pale nude shade of Leighton Denny nail polish, officially called Honey Trap. I love these nude shades, with some nail whitener they are a lazy girl's version of a French manicure

Never used "firming cream" before. How does it work? If it does work I could certainly do with it!

Now this is almost edible it smells so good, it feels great on my skin and it is a good sized sample.

This little gem of a pot of face cream has incredible reviews at Make-up Alley so I am going to try it.

Not everyone has been as happy as me with their boxes. For once I must have been lucky with mine and I am going to treat my Mum to a box and will certainly order the next one.
